Equal parts dreams and dinner

Chefs may not be the ideal demographic for these emails.
What do you think?
All this space talk.
I mean chefs can only prep so far ahead.
The challenge I’m having is connecting this possible future with your daily life.
There are so many ideas and innovations and discoveries happening that don’t affect you today. But they’re important when we put them all together. They’ll be crucial to our survival.
Our evolution.
Food producers. Farmers. They may need to know what’s up ahead.
We need to look at everything between how we grow food and how we cook it.
I’ve never been either one of those. But it’s what the images in my head are turning out to be. That and cooking tools of the future.
I also feel I need to weave some story into my emails.
Make them more captivating to read.
I need to create a story where we’ve already established a presence on the Moon and Mars.
But it needs a villain.
Constant threats to the food supply maybe?
Sounds corny.
Another outpost constantly raiding supplies?
Nah, I don’t like that either. The tribalism doesn’t work with my previous emails about how we’ll succeed once we see ourselves as one people.
No, it needs to be an enemy against humanity.
While Elon Musk is working on getting us to Mars, I like the idea of humans finally touching down on Proxima b- a planet that orbits our closest neighbour star, Proxima Centauri.
It’s 4.2 light years away.
If we left today with current technology we would arrive in about…
6,300 years.
Yeah.
Space is big.
So I’ll play with that idea if you’re into it. I’ve never written fiction before.
My hopes are to write something worthy of your attention. I don’t want you to finish reading and say, “oh, that was cute.” I want to give you a solid mix of useful info and a good dose of entertainment.
You can always let me know what you’re curious about too.
Short and sweet today.
Here’s to your health.
