Genetically modified rice to the rescue

Genetically modified foods.

GMOs.

You’d put a dollar in the swear jar saying those words in the plant-based circles.

But will we need to hear it more often when reaching for the stars?

We earflings nourish ourselves with the plants and animals growing on this planet- we evolved with them.

But no cucumber or cow (that I know of) has evolved to live outside of this planet.

In temperatures around -270°C.

With no atmosphere to breathe.

Without gravity.

Why would they? The ingredients for life just aren’t there.

They’re testing how plants act in microgravity situations. And if the tests show that plants aren’t suited to life between the stars?

Some intervention may be needed.
