🖖 The Farm Table network
digitally connecting the farms of Australia

Yesterday we talked about digitally connected farms in France. How farmers are working together with each other and technology to improve their profits.
Turns out this isn’t an isolated case.
Today I want to talk about a similar community over 15,000km away in Australia.
Farm Table is a national platform in Australia that sources, sorts, and gathers information, tools, and opportunities for the agriculture industry.
It serves as a central hub for industry members to connect and collaborate- a meeting place for producers, ag businesses, and industry organisations.
Sound familiar?
Read yesterday’s email after this if you haven’t already.
They do so with their Ag Library- an online knowledge hub- so that everyone can learn from the trial and error of others.
Here are a couple discussion topics I pulled from their website:
The Australian Vegetable Industry - Export Opportunities
Macro challenges for vegetable producers
Strategies and models for success
Export opportunities
Export processes
Industrial Hemp Vision Gets Funding Nod
Funding uses and raising capital through a growers' prospectus.
Uses in various industries such as food, building materials, textiles, and medicinal products.
Challenges facing the industry include capacity, infrastructure, and differences in state laws.
Farm Financial Tool: Profit and Loss Budget Fact Sheet
Understanding profit and loss for determining long-term sustainability of a farm business.
Profitability should not be confused with cash flow.
Maintaining a healthy and sustainable business using business performance data for planning and learning.
They’ve got it all. There are sections for tech resources:
Drone safety and certification
Tested and proven apps
Biosecurity software- how to protect crops while not destroying the local wildlife
There are courses ranging from gettin’ your horticultural certificate to sheep shearing and wool management for beginners.
That last one could be fun.
The point is farmers no longer have to feel alone- like they’re throwing darts in the dark.
This is a community of like-minded people who know the challenges and who share what has worked for them in the past.
Even if you’re not a farmer there’s a lot to learn from this site. I’ll put another link down below.
What else?
I say it’s a matter of time before global networks like this exist. And for other industries too.
Restaurants maybe?
Imagine a reliable hub of info you could use to improve your business.
If you know of one in your area please leave a comment. I’d love to check it out.
Something like this may not exist in your area.
Maybe you could create it?

Here’s the link again to the Farm Table site.
